Lake Weed Harvesting FAQ
The WaterShark typically clears 10,000+ square feet of dense aquatic vegetation in just 3 to 4 hours, depending on plant species, water depth, and shoreline access. Most residential harvesting jobs are completed well within a single day.
The WaterShark mechanically removes Eurasian watermilfoil, cattails, lily pads, elodea, fragrant water lily, and most other floating and submerged aquatic vegetation. Because it’s a mechanical method, it’s effective on virtually any plant we can reach with the cutting bar.
Yes. Mechanical harvesting is one of the most fish-friendly removal methods available — no chemicals enter the water, no oxygen is depleted by decomposing plant material, and we can selectively target invasive species while leaving native vegetation in place.
Lake weed harvesting is priced by the size and density of the area to be cleared, water depth, shoreline access, and whether permits are required. Because the WaterShark covers large areas quickly, harvesting is often more cost-effective than hand-pulling or repeated herbicide treatments. We provide free on-site assessments.
Most residential harvesting around a private dock falls under the homeowner maintenance exemption and doesn’t require a permit. Larger commercial jobs or work in protected waterbodies may require coordination with WDFW or the Department of Ecology. We handle permit research and applications as part of every commercial project.
